Bound For Glory Preview

Last night I had the pleasure to join my friends on the Talking Nonsense About Impact Wrestling Podcast discussing the upcoming Bound For Glory PPV on FITE TV. Unfortunately I had to leave the show early (Dad Duty) and was unable to give my full show predictions. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe to the show and check out my full predictions below.

IMPACT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Eric Young (c) vs. Rich Swann

This feud has been the pleasant surpise of the year. Eric Young has been absolutely fantastic since his return to IMPACT and Rich Swann has been the most sympathetic and heroic underdog that I have seen in years. His story of his unfortunate leg injury early in the year and his recovery is very moving and he is a guy that everyone can get behind. Young has been a despicable heel taking advantage of Rich’s injuries and has become a total irredeemable psychopath. All that said, after everything Rich has gone through, I’m not sure how you don’t have him win and send the crowd home happy. This match is gonna be high drama and an absolute show stealer. These two guys are looking to prove themselves and put the wrestling world on notice. Prediction: Rich Swann Wins

IMPACT KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP
Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. Kylie Rae

I was waiting as long as I could to predict this match in hopes that Deonna would sign a new contract and well, she finally did just yesterday. Now that she is signed long term, there is no better person to lead the Knockouts division. Prediction: Deonna Purazzo Retains

IMPACT WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The Motor City Machine Guns (c) vs. The Good Brothers vs. Madman Fulton and Ace Austin vs. The North

I’m sure this match will be good to great with all the talent involved. The story has not been very interesting but this match could be the show stealer. The Machine Guns have looked great in their return and there is a lot more to do with this team. Prediction: Motor City Machine Guns

IMPACT X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Rohit Raju (c) vs. Chris Bey vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Trey vs. TJP vs. Willie Mack

The second biggest pleasant surprise of the Bound For Glory build has been the improved character work of Rohit Raju. The X-Division is typically reserved for more serious and indy-riffic matches but this has been a fun change of pace. Like last years Ladder match, IMPACT has added an Intergender element to the match, which I think fits better than the World Title picture. I’m not a fan of multiple person matches for the sake of getting everyone on the show, but everyone in the match has a legitimate claim to a title show. I’m personally not ready to let go of a Raju title reign and these type of matches give you room for chicken shit heels to win. Prediction: Rohit Raju

“CALL YOUR SHOT” GAUNTLET MATCH
Acey Romero vs. Alisha Edwards vs. Cody Deaner vs. Brian Myers vs. Havok vs. Heath vs. Hernandez vs. Larry D vs. Rhino vs. Taya Valkyrie vs. Tenille Dashwood vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. TBD

This is another “get everyone on the show” match, but the stipulation of Heath getting his contract if him or Rhyno wins or Rhyno gets fired if they don’t helps add a much needed hook. Technically the winner gets a title shot of their choosing but they really dropped the ball when Eddie used it in a multiple person match almost a year later. Prediction: Heath wins and turns on Rhyno

UNDISCLOSED LOCATION MATCH

Moose vs. EC3

This should be a cinematic style match, likely airing from EC3’s compound or in the woods somewhere. If EC3 is sticking around I’d have him win and push him to the main event, but he is committed to being a free-lancer. Moose has not lost a PPV match in over 2-years and I don’t expect him to lose to a free-lancer. Prediction: Moose wins a BLOODBATH

Ken Shamrock with Sami Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards

This whole feud is weird and I still don’t understand the story they are trying to tell here. Sami just randomly turned heel and is controlling Shamrock somehow. Eddie could use some backup in this match, Kurt Angle? Anything is possible. I get the feeling this match is going to be a lot better than people think it will be and will exceed the low expectations many have for it. Prediction: Shamrock Wins & Pisses off Twitter
