This past Tuesday night on IMPACT’s nostalgia show “IMPACT in 60”, they aired a NJPW match from 2009 featuring the Motor City Machine Guns vs No Limit (Naito and Yujiro) from that years Wrestle Kingdom show, which has led to speculation of a return of NJPW to the network. They even aired a graphic promoting NJPW World during the match. While it seems that the relationship between Anthem and New Japan is getting better, and a US TV deal for NJPW is imminent, it will not be with AXS.
Dave Meltzer is reporting that “We do know that AXS has wanted New Japan back but that the television deal in the U.S. is not with AXS, and is expected to be announced within the next ten days“
Mike’s Take: Well that’s a bummer. While unconfirmed, I have also heard that the deal will not be with VICELAND which airs “Dark Side of the Ring” or BEIN Sports, which airs MLW. At this point I honestly have no clue, as those three networks were all my guesses. That MCMG vs No Limit match was great btw, watch it here before the man removes it:
